White Mendiants with Pistachio, Apricot, Raisin and Cocoa Nibs

£7.00

Description

I wanted to add something to the range that was bar like, but more focussed on sharing. Ideal for after a dinner party or if you have friends round for tea. Chocolate discs with toppings on have a few different names, some call them Knackerli for example, but my preferred name is Mendiants.

For some reason they are named after the 4 Mendicant orders of monks, the Dominicans, Franciscans, Augustinians, and Carmelites. These orders swore vows of absolute poverty and dedication to an ascetic way of life. The only thing they were allowed was chocolate (I may have made that bit up!)

Traditionally Mendiants have 4 toppings representing the 4 orders. Usually they would be whole pieces of fruit or nut, but I have chopped mine to give a more balanced eating experience.
